About FludZone
Making FEMA flood zone data accessible to everyone.
Our Mission
FludZone was built to make flood risk information free and instant. We believe every homebuyer deserves quick, free access to FEMA flood zone data without waiting 3-5 business days or paying $20-30 for a certified lookup. If all you need is a quick answer before making an offer, you should not have to pay for it.
What We Do
Instant Results
Get flood zone data in seconds, not days. Enter any US address and know immediately if it's in a FEMA flood zone.
FEMA NFHL Data
We query FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer directly, the same federal database used by industry professionals.
For Homebuyers
Whether you're buying your first home or investing in property, FludZone gives you the flood risk information you need before making an offer.
Our Data Source
FludZone uses data from the FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL), the official digital compilation of effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) combined with Letters of Map Change. This includes:
- Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) data for all FEMA flood zones
- Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries
- Base Flood Elevations (BFE) where available
- Letter of Map Change (LOMA/LOMR) amendments
Note: The NFHL does not yet cover every community with modernized digital FIRMs. In areas where NFHL data is not available, FEMA may still rely on older paper FIRMs. Always confirm with FEMA resources or a certified determination provider if results are unavailable.
Learn more about FEMA NFHL →How We Keep This Accurate
- We periodically review our guides and educational content against current FEMA and NFIP documentation to ensure accuracy.
- When FEMA changes key programs (such as Risk Rating 2.0 updates or map revision procedures), we update our content to reflect those changes.
- We test our flood zone lookup results against FEMA's own Map Service Center as a routine accuracy check.
- We do not alter, interpolate, or reinterpret FEMA data. FludZone presents the same NFHL information in a more accessible format.
- All educational content is fact-checked against the FEMA NFIP Flood Insurance Manual (October 2025) and 44 CFR Part 59.
Disclaimer: FludZone provides flood zone data for research and informational purposes only. It is not a certified flood zone determination service. For the certified determination required by mortgage lenders or for insurance purposes, you must obtain a Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form (SFHDF) from a licensed flood determination provider with E&O insurance. Flood zones can change over time. Always verify current flood zone status through FEMA resources or a certified flood determination provider before making property or insurance decisions.
